Vow Renewal is a ‘Life Shared’ celebration. It is a way of reaffirming your love and the vows you pronounced on the day of your marriage, enhanced by reflecting on your life together.

Because Vow Renewal is not a legally binding ceremony, it can be held anywhere, anytime. Couples often use anniversaries 10, 25, 30, 40 or 50 years or where one person has a life limiting illness. It is a beautiful opportunity to celebrate your life and commitment to each other. You may choose to hold your ceremony at a beautiful and meaningful venue for example at a Lakeside or Stonecircle. You can hold the ceremony in your own home and garden or one of the many beautiful hotels in the Lake District, the choice is yours. Many couples wish to involve their children or close family in the symbolic rituals. I have highlighted a few ceremonies below:

Ring Warming Ceremony, is a traditional Irish ritual.  Before exchanging the original rings or exchanging new ones such as eternity bands, you may like to have these rings passed around your family and friends, who will hold the rings and say a few words of love and well-wishes to bless your continued union.

Rituals we perform, such as holding hands, carrying flowers and exchanging rings, convey deep and symbolic meaning.  The Unity Candle ritual, calls on the couple to each take a candle, and together ignite the single flame of their love and life together.

Sand Ceremony -  The blending of sand is a unique way to symbolize two lives as one throughout the sands of time.  It is a great way to incorporate children and close family into the ceremony.

Handfasting is a popular ritual where hands are bound with ribbon or cord, to symbolize the ‘tying of the knot’.  The bonds can be tied in the figure of eight to symbolize your eternal and everlasting love.

Love letter and wine box ceremony – This box contains a bottle of wine, two glasses and a love letter from each to the other.  The letters should express the reasons you fell in love, and the reasons for staying together in marriage. The letters are sealed in envelopes, neither person seeing what the other has written.  Should the couple ever find themselves facing hardship or ill health in the future, they will open this box, sit and drink the wine and read the letters they wrote.

These are only some of the ideas that can make your Vow Renewal special.

I would be privileged to craft a ceremony that is meaningful to you.
