Hello, thank you for visiting my website.

My name is Helen Parsons, I am an Interfaith Minister and Celebrant.

From a very young age I have loved ceremony.  At primary school I had the great privilege of being May Queen with all the pomp and ritual that entails.  In secondary school I skipped lessons to improve my drama and singing skills.  Once trained as an Aromatherapist and Reiki Master, I would facilitate weekends for ceremony and sharing, but it wasn't until I studied meditation and Buddhism that I truly reflected and acknowledged the power of ceremony to create a stillness and contentment within.

Having accompanied my husband throughout his dying process, and witnessing his 'Essence' leave his body, it became apparent that I should craft his ceremony and officiate my husband's funeral.  At the time I had no inclination that this act of love and compassion would lead me into a ministry of service and celebrancy. Since then I have completed my NOCN Level 3 qualification in Civil Celebrancy, Ordained as an Interfaith Minister and trained as a Companion for the Dying (also known as Soul Midwife or Death Doula). I continue to offer spiritual and life enhancing counselling and complimentary therapies such as Reiki.

As an Interfaith Minister I respect the inherent goodness within everyone.  Love is common to all faith paths and none, and I'm sure we can agree that love is at the root of all relationship celebrations.  My personal belief system is eclectic and inclusive. I try to be mindful, living for today with a heart of kindness, love, compassion and gratitude.  As a Minister for 'Everyone' I respond to your beliefs or non-belief, so you can enjoy a secular celebration with litttle or no spiritual content, or if you prefer, we can include in your ceremony any spiritual or religious words, songs or verses of your choice from one or more faith paths.

My family is very important to me, I'm blessed with two married children and three wonderful grandchildren who live in Sussex.  As I travel South frequently, it does mean that if you live outside of Cumbria, or wish to hold your ceremony near your home town, I am happy to offer you my services anywhere in the UK.

When I am not working, I love exploring the Lakes and Fells with my three Springer Spaniels. They accompany me most places, even to wedding venues at times. One of my favourite quotes by an unknown author is;

“The human spirit needs places where nature has not been rearranged by the hands of man”.

Since moving to North West Cumbria in 2016, I have officiated many relationship celebrations such as Weddings, Naming’s, Vow Renewals, Rite of Passage and Funerals. I specialise in open-air ceremonies because I respect and honour the natural world and our place within it.  Albert Einstein said; "Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better."

I am on the Register of OneSpirit Ministers (ROSIM).  Through this organisation I can officiate legal wedding ceremonies in Scotland, these marriages are also recognised in the UK.   I am fully insured and you can be confident of my continuous professional development.

It is in the tiny and colourful details of each day that we can each create a handcrafted life that nourishes our essence.  May you be constantly reminded of all that is good and beautiful in life.

Thank you for reading about me.  I leave you with the words of Bruce Lee;

Absorb what is useful,

Discard what is not,

Add what is uniquely your own.
